15+ Movies Watched about "Border" and "Immigration" from -- 1910s thru 2020s
As an important side note, if you, your friends or your relatives that would like to know more about the border and immigration, the hope is that this blog about the movie, the notes and related blogs will be useful. Of course, you can ask us questions on twitter.
This blog is essentially notes-on-research for writing a short story for possible use as a movie. This work was inspired by the great work done by Ron Hill and his YouTube videos on the Bad Movie Bible channel. We recommend his most recent dropping The Story Behind of Samurai Cop — very entertaining.
The working title for our short story is Catching the GotAways and the story will have robots. Although we have so much research it might be more than one short story. There will be more about that throughout the blogs.
List of movies at the bottom.
What's Ahead
As explained in the tweet the goal of these blogs is to score
- Entertainment Value
- Technical Merits of the Movie Making
- Accuracy and Reality Basis for Story
The original blog (idea) was going to be very long, but 15+ blogs seems more workable. As such, this first blog is the movies already watched that will be discussed in upcoming blogs. Blogs will be posted every two or three days until done. We will link to those blogs here.
After this blog, each blog will include links & availability to the movie, a few screen shots and movie details; i.e. story location, movie shooting location(s), critical reaction(s) to movie, and other details. There will be more about out short story thought the blogs.
Types & Genres
The movies viewed include silent films, film noir, westerns (serials, movies, and singing cowboys), law enforcement-type movies (USBP/INS, Arizona Rangers, Sheriffs & others), ... Besides the movies our viewing included TCM (Turner Classic Movies) intros/outros, 3rd party reviews, and trailers – when available.
Sources & Quality
ALL THE MOVIES ARE FREE TO WATCH. Video sources are mostly Youtube, but a few are on Tubi, archive.org, d-archive.org, and as a last resort ok.ru. Again, they are all free to watch, some have ads that randomly break-in, but we've try to avoid those.
Most of the films are second or third generation copies turn into the equivalent digital; very few are 1040p blu-ray hi-quality. The movies before the 1960s are hit and miss on quality. Some of the 1970s movies are just down right dreadful. But again, we've tried to find the best copy available.
Here is the list
The silent movies will be done last, as we are very likely to add a few. The rest will be taken in order with Bordertown(1935) being first, and The Marksman (2021) being last. Additionally, we will be adding some minor details to this page; such as, who stars in the movie, and again links to the appropriate blog page.
The are no spoilers planned, except for a few "cowboy" types that had slightly different endings. We will label the spoilers very plainly.
