U.S.-Bound Migrants Being Extorted by Fees for "Safe-Passage" Exiting Colombia and Entering Nicaragua
We thank Kim “filterless” Wexler MA JD (@KimWexlerMAJD) for her diligent notes on this.
U.S.-Bound Migrants have an exhausting gantlet of barriers to reach the U.S.-Mexico border, which is another gantlet in it's self. This blog is but two of such barriers.
Currently, both Colombia and Nicaragua charge a toll or fee, but more likely a “multa” (or as translated from Spanish a fine). Many Spanish-speaking migrants might call it a "mordida" (translated as a bite (or extortion)). However, it does not matter if the migrant is from Latin America, Africa, or Asia. The "fee" is charged just the same.
Todd Bensman (@BensmanTodd) - reports from the field as we write this - is tracing the trail of U.S.-Bound
Migrants coming via South America in Colombia. Todd's tweets are live and he should
be followed. Todd is one the most diligent tracers of immigrant tribulation in
getting to the U.S. through the Americas. This report comes from the way station of Necocli city, Colombia as migrants head to the Darian Gap. A large collections of his reports is below.
Next, Breitbart relays the issue in Nicaragua as reported by the local news outlet Confidencial (translate Confidential). Breitbart adds additional details including how the Biden Administration "imposed sanctions against Nicaraguan-based charter flight airlines." Nicaragua has Collected Nearly $10 Million USD this year.
Here are the links to both items.
