Reducing Daily number of Tweets and Increasing Quality of Source Material
I'm going to give an example, but it's important to realize that ALMOST ALL of the stories I am talking about are put out as a Federal press release (PR). If you read a PR, more often than not, this PR becomes a copy & paste webpage on local news website .. with NO additional information added. It's pure laziness from the local "news" outfits.
Here is one example from KVIA in El Paso
Human smuggling operation uncovered in Borderland
https://kvia.com/news/border/2025/02/20/human-smuggling-operation-uncovered-in-borderland/
Last night, a binational enforcement operation took down a cartel-linked human smuggling operation between Anapra and Santa Teresa. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney for the Western District's Office made the announcement this afternoon
Let's be clear, the local news outlet DID NOT talk to any "spokesperson." That statement may have been put in the press release, but there is no way to know UNLESS we read the PR. So, next is the actual press release:
Law Enforcement Cooperation Between United States and Mexico Results in Mexican Takedown of Cartel-Linked Alien Smugglers
https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/law-enforcement-cooperation-between-united-states-and-mexico-results-mexican-takedown-cartel
Last night, extensive bilateral cooperation between the United States and Mexico resulted in the Mexico Attorney General’s Office “Fiscalía General de la República” (FGR) conducting a significant enforcement operation to dismantle a prolific transnational alien smuggling organization operating in Juarez, Chihuahua, along the U.S.-Mexico border.
As can be seen, the first paragraph of both are very similar. But it you look closer, the first two paragraphs of the Federal PR become 4 paragraphs locally - with the remain discarded. This is not unusual.
However, the laziness of the local writer shows why we are doing this. The last two (2) sentences of the 2nd paragraph of the Federal PR reads:
The enforcement operation included the execution of two arrest warrants in Mexico for alleged alien smugglers Brian Alan Torres Gonzalez and Soledad Morales Nava. Torres and Morales are Mexican citizens and will be prosecuted in Mexico in part with evidence provided by the United States.
Okay. As you can see, the local outlet was very lazy and missed ALOT. Again this new policy for us starts today.
